President

Grant Lucier

Grant comes from a unicorn startup called ServiceTitan, where he did project management/software consulting for clients. He had the opportunity to interact with investors, which piqued his interest in VC. Grant hopes to work in either M&A for a fast-growing tech firm or at a top VC post-MBA. During the fall semester, Grant interned at StepStone Group, a VC firm based out of NYC,  and helped identify potential startups that fit the firm's investing criteria. This summer, he will be interning at Scott's Miracle-Gro as a Corporate Strategy MBA Intern--more specifically, on their corporate venture team,1868 Ventures, that focuses on agricultural technology and the cannabis industry. 


As president of EVC, Grant wants to establish KFBS as a place where people come to feel like they have the tools and resources to start their own business and view it as a program that is well connected with the national VC ecosystem. 

Co-Vice President

Jay Baughan 

Jay is a 2015 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied Economics and Political Science. Post grad, he has held multiple roles in the Steel and Automotive industry and was, most recently, part of an operational turnaround in the Detroit area. At Kenan-Flagler, he is concentrating in Corporate Finance and Marketing and serves as a legacy representative. Jay is a private pilot, avid skier, outdoor enthusiast, and a founding member of the UNC Blockchain Club. He will be interning with Amazon as part of the Retail Leadership Development Program this summer.

Co-Vice President

Ben Waldon

Ben Waldon is a former national political strategist and fundraiser and is currently a first year at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. He was born and raised in Atlanta, later graduating from Elon University in 2013. In the 2020 election cycle, Ben was part of the core team of strategists that flipped the U.S. Senate. With a concentration in Business Analytics and Management Science, Ben has been active in both the Venture Capital and Consulting communities at KFBS. In 2022, Ben joined Boston-based Schooner Capital as an incoming Summer Venture Associate.

 

VP of Marketing

Kerry McIntyre

Kerry earned Economics and Art undergraduate degrees from Penn State University in 2015. Prior to graduating college, she started a commercial photography business, and spent 6 years growing the company before deciding to pivot into a marketing focused role. At KFBA, Kerry is concentrating in Marketing and Analytics and has a special interest in sustainability. She will spend the summer with CPG company Church & Dwight (think Arm & Hammer) working in a Brand Management role at a company that prioritizes acquisitions and growth. Outside of school, Kerry has interests in animal rescue, baking, and soccer. 

As the VP of Marketing
, Kerry hopes to help connect students with VC and entrepreneur oriented activities, education, and events of interest.

VP of Internal Relations/Events

Vanya Agarwal

Vanya Agarwal is from New Delhi, India. She pursued business administration during undergrad after which is worked with KPMG in a management consulting role. She decided to pursue an MBA to make a smooth transition into venture capitals, with a focus on impact investing. During her time at Kenan Flagler, she has been enrolled and actively involved in every class and activity related venture capitals. She will be spending her summer with a venture capital and alternate investment firm called Loud Capital based in Columbus, Ohio.  She will be involved in due diligence, valuations, and hands on strategic design for portfolio companies. She is a hardcore foodie. Also loves hiking and arts & crafts.

 

As the Vice President of Internal Relations, she is excited to build a strong ecosystem for entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, in collaboration with other clubs within the KFBS community.

VP of
Finance

Mollie Kelly

Mollie graduated from George Mason University with a bachelors degree in global affairs with a concentration on Africa. Since then, she has worked for an international non-profit in Washington, D.C., primarily focusing on sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Eurasia, and Eastern Europe programs promoting and strengthening democracies. At Kenan-Flagler, Mollie is pursuing a capital markets and investment concentration in order to support a career in venture capital and startups. She is hoping to enlighten new and prospective students on the local VC and start-up opportunities and efforts. On-campus, she enjoys being involved in MBASA, Carolina Women in Business, Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship Club, Carolina Barbecue Club, and the Adam Smith Society.

VP of Entrepreneurship

Juan Carlos Pacheco

Juan Carlos is a third-year JD/MBA focused on Law, Emerging Markets and Entrepreneurship. Prior to UNC, Juan Carlos was in Catholic seminary for five years and served for two years as Director of Service & Justice at the UNC Newman Center. Before starting at Kenan-Flagler this year, Juan Carlos was at UNC School of Law for two years and gained experience working with Chief Justice Newby at the Supreme Court of North Carolina and Judge Robert Conrad at the United States District Courthouse. Currently, Juan Carlos is the Co-Founder and CEO of Exsto Bio (https://exstobio.com/), a life science startup that is setting the standard of care and leading innovation with personalized cannabis therapeutics.

 

This summer, along with leading the strategic growth of Exsto Bio, Juan Carlos is working at Milberg Coleman (https://milberg.com/) law firm, a pioneer in federal class action litigation and a leader in defending the rights of victims of corporate wrongdoing. As the VP of Entrepreneurship at Kenan-Flagler, Juan Carlos plans to reinvigorate the entrepreneurial eco-system at Carolina by supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and creating an inter-disciplinary network of innovators from the various programs at UNC.”

Co-VP of Outreach

Connor Roach

Connor is a Chapel Hill native who left the Tarheel state to attend Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated from Olin Business School with a BSBA in Marketing. He pursued a career in the live music industry following his undergraduate education, making his first stop at Creative Artists Agency in Nashville, TN. After a few years of representing CAA’s top musicians, he decided to take his talents to Beverly Hills, CA, to work for Live Nation Entertainment directing North American arena tours. Connor came to Kenan-Flagler to pivot out of the live entertainment industry into Venture Capital, focusing on Web3 and crypto investments. As VP of Outreach, he aims to create more streamlined opportunities for students interested in chasing startup, venture capital, or crypto-based careers and internships.

Co-VP of Outreach, L&D

Shivam Shah

Having grown up in the Middle East, Shivam was fascinated with energy, leading him to pursue chemical engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Thereafter working in design, operations, and corporate strategy roles with Suncor Energy. Shivam decided to obtain his MBA to transition into the US and during his time at Kenan-Flagler has enjoyed broadening his knowledge within finance, venture capital and technology. This summer, he will be working with Jefferies as an Investment Banking Summer Associate in their Technology group out of San Francisco. An avid Formula 1 fan, Shivam enjoys traveling (24 countries and counting) and everything Harry Potter / Marvel.

Shivam supports Outreach and L&D for the EVC Club, and is excited to provide opportunities for KFBS students to learn from and connect with California’s EVC ecosystem, engage in multi-recruiting, build an understanding of VC concepts, and collaborate with the KFBS community.
